Selected as a 2007, 2009,  2010, 2011, and 2012 Super Lawyer by Law & Politics Magazine, and selected as a 2010 and 2012 Best Lawyer by U.S. News Media Group, Mr. Ruport has over 35 years of trial experience and is board-certified in Civil Trial Advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.

In AFC Interiors v. DiCello (1989), 46 Ohio St.3d 1, Mr. Ruport represented the plaintiff and the Ohio Supreme Court changed 79 years of Ohio case law. The plaintiff appealed after losing in the trial court and court of appeals. The Ohio Supreme Court reversed the decisions of the lower courts, holding that a section of the Uniform Commercial Code superceded the common-law doctrine of accord and satisfaction in the "full payment" or "conditional check" situation. In 1994, the Ohio Legislature added a section to the Ohio Uniform Commercial Code to change this case law result.

In addition to AFC Interiors v. Di Cello, Mr. Ruport has litigated the following reported cases:
